The following is an entry I made in a handwritten diary because I didn’t have as many opportunities to access the internet while I was on vacation.
So I think I can pretty much write off the first half of 2008 as my longest holiday ever. I feel like I’ve accomplished the least in these last 6 months. Ok so June isn’t over yet, but I don’t see myself accomplishing anything substantial in the near future so I’m going to write off June as well.
My holiday in Ireland is almost over and because I haven’t had much access to the internet, I’ve had a lot of time to think (and be a good ol’ daytime-tv-watching-nintendo-ds-playing couch potato). But the strangest thing is that the more time I get to relax, the more I like it and the more I want to continue doing it rather than trying to figure out exactly what it is I want to be doing for the rest of my life.
I found out about a week into my holiday that I will be able to go back to my temp job for at least 25 days and all of a sudden I’m not worried about what I’m going to do for work. I could’ve gone down to the internet cafe near the apartment everyday and applied for jobs. Instead I slept in till noon, watched TV for four hours, cooked dinner just in time for him to come home, ate dinner and continued to watch TV for the rest of the night.
Some nights instead of watching TV after dinner, we’d meet up with some friends. One night, we went to the xThe Bossx concert (my opinion: They don’t call him “xThe Bossx” for nothing!) Another night I went to the Celine Dion concert (I know, I know… I went all the way to Ireland to watch a Canadian Artist perform – whatever, she was awesome!). During their long weekend, we went to see some really cool historical sites where we got to see structures older than the Pyramids. I suppose I can call than an accomplishment but it’s not like I worked hard at it.
It’s been such a great holiday though, especially for our relationship. Sure we’ve had some disagreements but they’ve only been the kind of disagreements that keep the fire alive. On that note, he’ll be home soon and we’re going to see the Sex and the City movie tonight. And then for the rest of the week, I’m going to have to try and catch up with everyone I haven’t seen yet. Busy Bee, that’s me!
