Flickr Friday: Finding myself
This photo above was taken for the sh1ft.org 26 things project that I blogged about in January. It was my entry for ‘twin’, and I really like how it turned out. I’m not completely happy with my body1 but I guess I’m happy enough to share it with you all2.
I took this at an H&M fitting room and am quite happy with the lighting and even my facial expression. I thought it was fitting for what I wanted to talk about today… I’ve been feeling really disconnected with myself lately and3 I think it actually started when I rediscovered my love for the arts. I say rediscovered because I had lost touch with it for a little while; I stopped singing, designing, painting, dancing… and writing4. Slowly, I’ve been pushing myself to get back and I’m feeling good. I’m not together yet, but I’m getting there5.
I went to a Hot Yoga class this past Monday and I’m kicking myself for not starting sooner. It was not nearly as difficult as I thought it was going to be, and it will help me with my breathing6. So I’m hoping to go more often and am hoping to get better at it. I’m hoping the time I spend there will enable me to really reconnect with myself and finally figure out who I really am… because sometimes, I’m just not sure.
Have you ever ‘lost yourself’?
p.s. This is my official 500th post, but the celebratory post is going live in two days. Its just the way things worked out.

I agree with the comments above. You are in great shape, and have great hair
I don’t even know what it is that makes me feel good half the time, but I am glad I have blogging and blogging friends! 500 posts is amazing!
And that hot yoga sounds great too. I got into the Wii Fit version of yoga, and now I’m keen to learn more – especially about the spiritual side of it.

Great shot. I like the curvy, languid pose. Works well with all the vertical lines in the shot. Nicely done.

Really like this post. The photo is terrific. You have a great petite little frame and beautiful shiny black hair.
Life itself really is a journey of self-discovery. I think we tend to become more self-aware and self-assured as we get older but we are constantly changing and evolving and discovering new things about ourselves. Enjoy and embrace the ride!

Weren’t you freaked out that there was someone else that had the same hair, clothes, and camera as you in the store?

@Web-Betty: lol I think you’re probably right… the search is more exciting than the actual discovery.
@Lyndi: Thanks for your compliment on the photo. There’s tiny bits here and there that I don’t like, like the little bump near where my camera case is hanging. I have not had kids yet and shouldn’t really have that… you know? Its excusable if I have but not when I haven’t yet! lol
As for the official celebration… heh I actually don’t have that much planned – just the last 25 things about yours truly! hehe
@Julius: Thanks
I thought it was good enough – hehe my favourite part about it is the lighting (and the fact that I’m wearing purple). Thanks too for the congrats. I hope there are many more stories!
CommentLuv is a great plugin. Andy Bailey is actually quite active on twitter and a genius at that!! hehe

Every time I go looking for myself I end up wishing I had never started looking.
Great photo. I do not know what you are complaining about (body wise, that is). Right now I am in a terrible shape and just this weekend the treadmill is coming out of storage so that I can do something to rectify matters.
Congratulations on that 500 posts. What a wonderful milestone. Can’t wait for the official celebration.

It seems whenever I “find” myself, I decide that’s not what I wanted to find, so I keep searching, LOL!
Life, I think, is the constant search for ourselves. The fun (hopefully) comes from the searching, not necessarily the discovery.
I hope you’re having fun searching Reggy.
