Last minute

I’m a planner. I’ve always been a planner. That’s not to say that I can’t take life as it comes; roll with the punches, as they say. I most certainly can but I can’t stand it when I give people time to do something and it gets ignored for days or even weeks on end without a response. What am I to think at that point? I’m going to assume that everything is fine and dandy. And so I go ahead as planned. And it’s at this point that I can’t stand it when people try to tell me that there’s something wrong with the project.

We have these surveys to administer between 4 people… we need a total of 350. We should’ve started two weeks ago but we needed an extra draft since our first one wasn’t approved by the Professor. Once we submitted it a second time, no one offered to go and pick it up and finally an entire week later (the professor only needed 3 days) I just went and picked it up. That same day I made the editions he suggested and emailed it to the group stating that it was the latest version and to offer their comments when available. That was four days before reading week. Reading week ended this past Sunday in my eyes. Two of my group members were at the interviews at Four Seasons on Monday. They expressed concern about starting to administer surveys, so I said that I could get all 350 printed free of charge by Wednesday.

On my way to drop them off at our mutually agreed upon pick-up point, one of my group members calls me to say that there are a few things wrong with the survey. Too little too late as I’m lugging 700 very heavy legal sized sheets on my back. I sent the freaking survey out to them *two* weeks ago! If there was something wrong with it, it should’ve been brought to my attention before the concern of when should we start administering. Grr! Nothing bothers me more than that… and she tried not to say it but it was there in her tone: Can we fix it and print another 350 surveys? FUCK NO! Free isn’t really free… and I’m not at liberty to discuss how I got these printed for free but it still came at someone’s expense and I tried to make sure that there was enough time for edits/trials. If people didn’t take it, that’s not my bloody fault. Unorganized people boil my blood when they try to act as if they know better than everyone else…

  1. Haha JR… yes people do suck. But the people that suck are just there to help us realize how great the great ones are… you know what I mean? 😀

  2. Sorry to hear that. I can’t honestly say I’ve had anything that bad but I can imagine. I’ve learned that people suck.
