I went to see Jumper with my brother yesterday, and I was impressed… but not that much. The movie was done well, but the plot was pretty weak. I still liked it though because I’m a sucker for stories about people with special abilities. More specifically, what I liked about the movie was the pace, the characters, the length of the movie and the special effects. What I didn’t like about the movie was the lack of character building, and explainations offered for many aspects of the story.

A genetic anomaly allows a young man to teleport himself anywhere. He discovers this gift has existed for centuries and finds himself in a war that has been raging for thousands of years between “Jumpers” and those who have sworn to kill him.

I’m becoming a fan of Doug Liman‘s work, with the Bourne trilogy being my favourite, and this is no exception. Like I said, the movie was well done. I felt it was well directed and well produced. However, the story left me asking a lot of questions… though I’m not sure I love it enough to start reading the novel. All in all, the movie was disappointing… but I’m still giving it 3 stars because it was quite entertaining.

What I’d like to talk about for minute is how much it freaked me out that Hayden Christensen looks like an old friend1 of mine whose first name just happens to be the same name as Hayden’s Character in the movie. Freaky!

  1. yes, he’s also an ex-boyfriend but we’re beyond that []
