That’s not true of course, because this wouldn’t be much of a post if that was all I said about the Dark Knight. Those were the words said to me by one of my brother’s best friends when he was trying not to spoil the movie for me. And I have to give it to him, he was bang on with that one word. If you haven’t seen it yet, then just take my word for it: you need to go see it. If you like action movies of course. If you’re like my Mum and you don’t then you don’t need to go see it. If you have seen it, how crazy was that scene?
I felt like I was about to have sex for the first time; I was nervous, flustered, light headed and so very excited. Even though I had read Trench’s review last week though (and thought he was crazy), but now I see his point that there was something missing. It doesn’t make the movie any less brilliant but there was something a-miss, for sure. I agree with Trench that Katie Holmes was a much better Rachel Dawes than Maggie Gyllenhal, but that’s not was was missing from the movie (not that Trench said that).
I don’t know exactly what was missing in it for me, but I’d rather focus on the good stuff anyway. Heath Ledger, Christian Bale, Aaron Eckhart and Gary Oldman… ok, the cast of the movie all delivered amazing performances all around; but Heath, takes it hands down. I think that his portrayal of the Joker is phenomenal. I thought it would be disturbing to watch this movie knowing that he has passed, but because he’s in makeup the entire time… he doesn’t even look like Heath. He makes you believe that this guy exists, even better than any character portrayal I’ve ever seen.
I’m not saying the movie is all about Heath, there are a lot of things great about the movie. It’s what I want to focus on though so I don’t end up spilling the beans. On that note, have you seen it yet?
