A simple, customizable footrest

I’m pretty excited to tell you about this, and trust me when I say that this is NOT a paid post. I don’t do that (yet)1. Anyway, I’ve always had problems sitting at tables because I have short legs and a long torso2. And anyone that has to sit in front of a computer for extended periods of time3, knows that their posture at the desk is extremely important to prevent any repetitive stress injuries. What all this means is that I need a footrest to sit ergonomically correctly4 at any desk.

Being new at my new place of employment, and knowing how expensive footrests can be I didn’t feel like asking for a footrest to be purchased for me. So I obtained one for free! How? You ask? With a little ingenuity, a little tape and some cardboard. Oh yes, my friends with just these simple ingredients you too can have your very own customizable footrest! You don’t believe me? Check out my fancy footrest for yourself: My footrest on flickr.

I wonder if Ikea would be interested in my invention? What do you think of my footrest?

  1. I don’t think I’ll ever do it, but you know what they say: Never say never[]
  2. the long torso doesn’t give me problems, but the short legs do. I just had to say that I have a long torso because I just did[]
  3. so all you bloggers out there SHOULD know this[]
  4. is it just me or does that sound gramatically wrong? oh well[]

  1. @Trench: LOL Now I really wish I could find some of that Purple duct tape that Kelly’s talking about. Then I’d wrap it up like she suggested and write Maxipad on it!!

@Canuck: Oh it works baby. And you see now it’s only indented in some parts? That’s the customization baby!

  2. Ah – the Always thing has already been covered I see … late to the party as usual. Its not the nicest one I’ve seen – but hey, as long as it works …

    Canuckleheads latest..R U READY 4 SOME FOOTBALL?

  3. @Erica: Thanks!! I thought so!

@Kelly: Purple duct tape you say? I didn’t know such a thing existed! As for paint, I wanted to paint it but again being the newbie, I didn’t want to ask for any ‘extra’ stuff.

@Peri: Woo hoo!! I’d love a furry footrest. The funny thing is this always box was in the warehouse… of a motorcyle/scooter manufacturer. *raises eyebrow

  4. You can borrow my dog next time. He doesn’t mind being a footrest every so often.

That’s a lot of Always BTW.

  5. Personally, I would have spruced it up a little more with purple paint… or purple duct tape. But that’s just me… a fool for purple! 🙂
