If there’s one thing I love about travelling, it’s discovering the little places. This photo from my last trip to New York City is one of my favourite… I loved daBhang Cafe; we went there after a get together at someone’s house mostly just for a change of scene1. There wasn’t anything that special about the place, but it’s still one of my favourite memories from that trip.
Later this afternoon, I’ll be leaving for St. Louis, MO for a wedding. A close friend of his is marrying the love of his life, and I’m pretty excited about it. I’m only going for two nights and will be leaving very early Sunday morning but I’m hoping I’ll get to meet another blogger friend, Mike of Celtophilia, while I’m there – it’ll be the icing on the cake for sure!
I wish I had more time there since it looks like quite a big city… but I’m confident I’ll find at least one little treasure while I’m there.
What do you like most about travelling?

Hey
Hope you had a great time.
I love traveling when I ‘discover’ new things and places. I love to get in touch with local people when I travel, once I visited a small village that didn’t see tourists much, I spent a whole day drinking coffee with many of them – that was a lifetime experience.

I like waking up in a hotel room and knowing you have the whole day ahead to explore a new place. No schedule, no big plans and always the chance of getting lost for awhile.

I hope you had a great time. I agree with Erica above – I love coming home. But I also just love being part of a different ‘life’ for a while. It just completely gets you out of whatever routine you’re in, and you appreciate completely different things than when you’re at home.

Have fun in St. Louis!
I don’t know if there is one thing that I like *most*. I like adventure, new sights and sounds, getting up-close and personal with landmarks I have previously only seen pictures of. I like feeling small (in the physical sense).
And I like – no, love – coming home…airport greetings, snuggling with my cat, and planning the next trip, too.

Although I know what you mean; remember stumbling upon a tiny little bar behind the Alhambra in Granada where locals met to jam, playing drums on wooden boxes. It was great! (Sorry, that should have been 1 comment!)
