Monday Madness: My Superhero alterego Purple Rain
I’m not going to lie to you. I’ve often fantasized about becoming a superhero with full blown super powers and a hidden identity. So when I saw this on The Beacon, I just had to try it out for myself.
First of all, the song on the site is simply amazing – rockin’ to an 80′s hit while you’re choosing your alterego on a hungover Sunday night… what more could a girl ask for?!
The Hero Factory doesn’t come up with great superhero names but its still pretty neat. I created Purple Rain to reflect who I would want to be if I were ever given superhero powers. The Ninja star is only the beginning of her abilities, the cape for protection and the outfit.. well the outfit was part of a limited selection on the site but its good enough.
My ideal superpowers? WARNING: Heroes spoilers below.
My first choice would be to be an Empath. Yes, like Peter Petrelli was in Season 1. But I think I would have a better handle on all my powers1 and wouldn’t have lost all my abilities to my father in a lame ass hug. I would be able to empathize with people and know what they’re going through as well and I already feel I’m quite capable of this2, so this is why being an empath would be my first superpower choice.
My second choice would be to have a great mind like Batman or Iron Man. To be able to create something out of nothing and have all sorts of neat gadgets and the smarts to out-smart all my enemies. Of course, this comes with unlimited funding as well as seen in both cases of Batman and Iron Man 
and that’s an added bonus!
Third and last choice… hm.. would be a little hard but I’d want high-level telepathy like Professor Xavier’s. This is my third choice because I don’t really want to know what everyone is thinking all the time. But I liked how Matt & Peter were able to convince the guards to protect them instead of attacking them last week when they snuck into to enemy quarters3.
Anyway, that’s my little fantasy into superhero-dom. Give it a shot and let me know in the comments what you’ve come up with!

I’d be Superman in a heartbeat. Im a Marvel fan, but Superman is well… SUPER! haha. 2nd choice, SPIDEY.

@Ken: lol there isn’t really any power that hasn’t ‘been done’ before so I’d say being able to ‘leap tall buildings in a single bound’ is as good as any super power!

Haha yeah Peter was silly! Heroes comes up with some really cool super powers that I would never have thought of.

Very cool! I tried working on mine, but it didn’t come out the way I wanted. I think it’s because I need to use Safari. I’ll flickr it once it’s done.
